- Make-up iReady -

On Friday we walked into class like normal. We started with the one minute meditation. After the meditation, we started to listen to Jackie's blog that was quite better than Xander's blog. We corrected the blog and started a new rule that if it's your birthday and you are up to do the blog you shall automatically get a point. Soon after, we wrote a poem, and when we were finished Ms. Nakada started asking people for a check up on the poems. We later did the lines, and it was "Poetry" by Yrsa Daley Ward. At the end of the period we did the quiz and left class for lunch.

Today we all skedaddled into class and wrote down the agenda. Then, after that, we corrected Cesar's blog. Then, he made me and Hudson do rock, paper, scissors for who does the blog. And I lost, but I don't care. After that, we read and talked about our poem of the day. Then, we got to writing our poems. Gael, Amari, Xander, and Felipe wrote poems for my birthday, which were all pretty sigma. After we got back to our question from yesterday, we then we started our discussion about it. Then, we listened to the song of the week, and shortly after, we skedaddled off to lunch.

We all walked into class and sat down. We took a minute, and then Ben started to read his blog. After he read his blog, he picked me. He told me to pick Jackie. (I might pick someone different just to get a little revenge on him) Then, Ms. Nakada gave out papers that had info on the eighth grade events. After all that, we started our RJ. The poem that we read was "Postcard to Baudelaire" by Thomas Lux. We than started to write our poems. After all of that, Ms. Nakada asked us about how many poems we have. I have a question for Elijah, "Elijah why do you ALWAYS have food?" Anyways, we started Q-Q-S-L. The Quote for this week was "Do not ignore the pain. Give it purpose. Use it." by Amanda Gorman and the Question was "How can you develop mental toughness?" The bell rang, and we all left for lunch. Jackie and Hudson do rock paper scissors.

Today I walked in to class hoping not to do the blog today, but I ran out of luck and got picked to do it because Xander Salazar wouldn't shut his trap. We then went on to writing poems while Ms. Nakada checked how many poems we had written so far. We then went on to an extended reader's workshop where we wrote more poems and posted them digitally. For the last ten minutes of class, we did the weekly quiz. When the bell rang we all skedaddled out to lunch.

As the bell rang, everybody entered the class in a crazy manner (not literally). Then, we all took a seat and started to write down the agenda for the day. Ms. Nakada played a mindfulness video for all of us to watch after the agenda, and as soon as that video was finished she called up Sukhari Dodson to read her super amazing excellent blog. The whole class listened to Sukhari as she dissed John, and read the rest of her blog. When she was finished, she sat back down and picked me, but I was already ready since I knew she was going to do that (I told her to). The whole class got out their English notebooks since it was about time to start NaPoWriMo Day 18. We passed out the pink packets with a bunch of poems written on them, and Ms. Nakada told us to turn to page 19 so that we could real the poem named "Self-Portrait With Woman On The Subway" By Hayan Charara. The poem was mostly about how she regretted not helping a woman that was crying across from her. I think the poem teaches us how society really ignores the problems that are going on, and just decide to look the other way.

After that, we wrote it down in all of our English notebooks and started to write our next poem for the day. Of course, I wrote a poem about my handsome husband Ralph Macchio. After the timer went off, everyone moved into their literature circles. After just a few minutes though, the bell to lunch rang, and we all waddled off to lunch.

After that disrespect, we read the poem "Neither Time Nor Grief is a flat Circle" by Christina Olson. Her poem was about her grief from the loss of her friend, Andy. Then, we started writing our poem for the day the prompts were "Another you shows up", "Hunger", and a "Not__" poem. We then started on our QQSL the lines were "Im Going Back To Minnesota Where Sadness Makes Sense" by Danez Smith. Finally, we moved into literature circles before leaving for lunch.

We all walked into class today and wrote down our blogs. We read Logan's blog but instead of Ms. Nakada choosing someone randomly since Logan wasn't here; Logan decided to make a voting system. Logan you're going on the [Happy] list. Afterward we got to reading "Moments" by Mary Oliver. I didn't know what it was about since I was too busy writing this. Today's topic for writing a poem as of 4/16/24 is a dinner party, if your body was a house, and a FORM * ANTI* FORM.

I will keep it buck with you, I got no clue what that final topic even means. We then moved on to Week 14 QQSL song which was "Only Happy When It Rains." 0/10 horrible. No wonder why the person who made is called garbage. The song was about depression and being happy about sad things.

We then moved on to Lit. Circles / Reader's Workshop.

Today class started as usual. I was really hoping for new seats, because I love sitting in the back. Then for some reason, Felipe Hernandez-Solis chose me. Felipe, this is why you're so tall, and Jackie is so short.  We then transitioned into NaPoWriMo Day 15 and read the poem "The Rose That Grew from Concrete" by Tupac Shakur. Ms. Nakada then went to check everyone's NaPoWriMo progress, while I thought of stuff to say on this blog against Felipe. But I came up with nothing. We then went over to do our quote for our QQSL, "Water does not resist. Water flows. [...] Dripping water wears away a stone. [...] Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does." by Margaret Atwood. We then moved onto the Question "What do tests reveal and not reveal about student learning?" We then moved into literature circles. After finishing literature circles, I thought up of a way to choose someone cause I honestly don't know who to choose, so y'all can help me on this one.

Option A: The Shortest in the class: Jackie Boykins

Option B: Kung Fu Panda John Paul Gantmurr

Option C: Uhhhhh Franco

Option D: Camila Luz Sinderbrand (I need my revenge ngl)

Anyways, after that we Skedoodled out of class...

Today I walked into class and sat in my seat. After taking a minute, Gael went up to read his blog but he told Jackie and I "Don't lose." I didn't know what that meant so I didn't think much of it. But then in Gael's blog, he made me fight to the death against Jackie. I died, so I had to do the blog. We did some poems for day 11 of NaPoWriMo. After Gael and Jackie presented their poems wishing an unhappy birthday to Cesar, (which Gael failed tradition for giving me the blog instead of Cesar the blog since it was his birthday) we took the week 13 quiz. Elijah stop looking at me. We did a little I-Ready until we moved into Literature Circles. After that, we skedaddled to lunch.

Everyone walked into class and began writing the agenda. Afterwards, Owen went up to read his blog. After correcting his blog, he got us a point which was cool. Owen then chose me which is not cool. Then, we read our poem for the day, "From the Dark Tower" By Countee Cullen. We then analyzed the poem. After we analyzed the poem, we wrote our own poems for NaPoWriMo. The prompts today were to do an Ars Peotica, A list of hexes and/or curses and to do or be better. I curse Jackie. Ms. Nakada then put the amount of poems we did on the wall. Next, we did our lines for Q-Q-S-L, "There Are Birds Here" by Jamaal May, For Detroit. The point of the poem was that everything has good or bad and Detroit can be good.  Once we were done we got packed up and skedaddled to lunch. Remember everybody, don't throw babies into trash cans.

I just realized, I might not be here tomorrow because of a field trip. Losers. So, I want Jackie and Felipe to play rock paper scissors to decide who has to do the blog.

We walked into class after third period, and sat down. We took a minute, and then Marianna got up and read her blog. After she, so rudely, targeted me in her blog, and then picked me. I will never forgive you Marianna. After that, we read the poem, "Fog" by Carl Sandburg. We then transitioned into writing our poem for the day. I wrote one about a ghost, from the ghosts perspective. After that, we did our Q.Q.S.L. The quote was, "Poetry is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity to our existence." By Audre Lorde. The question was, who are you as a person and a poet? Personally, I am usually an upbeat person, but a lot of my poems are often long and have hidden meanings, and they never rhyme. Ever. Then, we went into our literature circles, where Marianna bullied me the whole time. Then, the bell rang, and we all left for lunch.

What the flip dude. Then, we did our readers workshop. I think it was something about poetry, I couldn't really pay attention because I was writing the blog, but I heard something about San Andreas. Then, we wrote our poems. Next, we had to read them to a partner, but  since I was doing the blog I didn't do that. After that, we did our Week 12 QQSL, with a poem by Emily Dickinson.
